The Burning Crusade!

15.jpg

Yesterday at about 11am i finally purchased my copy of the game, hurried home and setup the install. I was there ready with drinks and snacks so i could just keep on playing for hours and hours. After the installation had finished and the updates re-downloading and installing i jumped right into the game. I had logged out with Templar right by the portal so i could just jump straight through. My first task was to fly to Honour Hold then run to the Temple to get my First Aid trained up, and then i rode down to Shattraht, via Allerian Stronghold, to get the flight-points and access to all the trainers.

Once completed i hearthed back to HH to start questing, the first few quests seem to be designed to give you a sudden burst of new equipment, but that soon dried out. I think i managed to get about 18-20 quests done which with the help of a Hellfire Citadel: Burning Furnace run got me to 3/4 xp bar.

17.jpg

The instance is great, really nice to do with the odd surprise round the corner, but what i particularly liked about it was how you could see the other instances from it, you could look down to see the massive demon who is in the final wing of Hellfire Citadel. It is also a beautiful instance, lots of great mobs and just a nice design so you can always see the exit so you know how much longer it is.

18.jpg

The instance is actually very easily, it is meant to be a 61-63 instance but we did it with three 61’s and two 60’s, and we didn’t have any wipes, i died on the big green flying slimeball boss because of a monster DoT spell he did on me, and Ona our rouge died on the final boss because he is rubbish.

19.jpg

One thing to look out for is the stealthed mobs, i randomly blasted out the human racial ability and saw one or two about, but they seem to have the habit of attacking at very annoying points like in the middle of a complex pull. But like all the mobs in this instance you can quickly get rid of them.

20.jpg

In this room we were seriously surprised, it turned out the massive lever wasn’t to open the gate to let the big green stinky boss in, it was in fact to let a whole load of mental orange orc blokes run at us from all sides. This was pretty intense but they come in waves so you can slow the whole process down by not killing them all, take it in turns to keep one alive by sheeping/trapping/sapping for as long as you want. I seriously recommend this when you get to the last guy as after him the boss will come straight away.

21.jpg

After that it was pretty easy, we just sped through to the last boss who takes a while to get down but is not complicated in any way, you just gotta keep bashing him till he is dead. Overall it was a really nice instance, sadly i didn’t get any great loot but i’m in no hurry. I highly recommend checking this one out, it doesn’t take long and is a nice little outing for any family holiday.

Well that’s all from Day 1, i’ll post again later tonight about what i have got up to recently. I hope you are enjoying the game as much as me. Until then, keep on WoWing :p

Last couple of days!!

Well here we are, tonight at midnight a whole new game begins and i have a very, very strong feeling it is going to kick ass. Sorry for a lack of posts but i havn’t had much access to my PC for a few days but that is all over. Everyone is making their last few preparations, finishing quests, emptying their banks, training up skills to 300 and getting all the characters fully sorted out. But there is still some fun going on in the servers:

12.jpg

Last night masses of Alliance players set out from the various capitals towards Org to do some orc bashing, here you can see the flightpoint in Azshara, others boated to Ratchet then rode north but i prefered the swim and ride south.

13.jpg

But sadly the server was dieing somewhere outside Paris, probably with clouds of smoke billowing out and screaming technitians doing nothing at all… But it was still a bit of a laugh all the same. Well that’s all from me until Wednesday evening after my first session of TBC then this blog kicks off! See you all then.

Molten Core

Last night i managed to get a place on my guild’s final trip to MC before The Burning Crusade comes out, which was especially exciting for me as i have never been to MC before. I joined the group after Garr and played all the way to Raggy, i died a few times but far less than i expected as our group was only 34 people for the majority and my fire resistance was about 15 when it should have been 250 or so.

9.jpg

Sadly i didn’t get any loot, but it would have been unfair of me to get anything as it would have been my first raid with the guild. I got a lot of advice from my mate Drinu who i have known in the guild for ages, for Baron i just stood back and shot some bullets at him, but further along the line of the bosses and after tanking the odd trash mob i got a bit more confidence in my abilities to stay alive, which is usually quite useful.

10.jpg

At about 11.15pm we got to Ragnaros, which was awesome for me as i had no idea what was going on in, and didn’t expect to still be in the group by then. But i think i played it pretty safe and only did what everyone else was doing. But for the final boss i got a lot of help from our lovely guild leader Navarre, he gave me a rundown of the tactics and because of that i think i may have been of some vague use, but i was well impressed with myself when i was still alive at the end, even though i did come with 60 hitpoints of death at one point. Overall it was an awesome run and i hope i can get my gear standard up asap so i can go on more raids with my guild when TBC comes out.

an evening with PvP

Just a short post today as i didn’t really do much today. I only had time for a little PvP which i’m slowly getting better at, the main problem being i seem to die quite a lot. But i do kill a lot as well, which just means lots of waiting to respawn then charging in putting in some big blows then dieing very suddenly. It’s like jousting or something, i hang back for a while, make a charge kill something and die myself. Oh well, i’ll get there someday. I have got into a pattern of logging on, going to the battlemasters, signing up for AB and AV then jumping about a bit and playing with my UI for 15 mins until i go into AB, and normally just as the game finishes i’m invited into AV which makes a nice little 1 hour gaming slot which i can repeat over and over.

8.jpg

A nice change in AV was the inclusion of a bloke i followed about who had Thunderfury which is enormously fun to watch in action as playes get very confused by the whirlwind thingy, classic. Until next time, have a nice day :)

… and there i was, waistdeep in a gryphon.

I have completed some more of the tier 0 upgrade quests, i now have Gauntlets of Heroism and the Belt of Heroism which means i now have the 2 item bonus and i have my first Epic. Yay. But to get these two items i had to give alot of money to the routemasters and to one goblin in particular who was being very unhelpful:

6.jpg

This bloke is an absolute tool. But it needed to be done so i’ll get over it. After getting these two items i didnt really have any time to do an instance run so i installed a new Interface. I downloaded PhoteKrysis 2.3 It has worked out really well, although i still need to work on my setup to make it easier to use. But i’m getting there.

Well that’s all from me today, see you soon. Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions on some good mods/UIs.

Getting ready for release day

Well we’re getting close now to that special day, we’ve had Xmas, we’ve had New Year, all we have to look forward to is the release of The Burning Crusade, and of course Chinese New Year. But still TBC is coming out and i need to get Templar ready to play so that i can cruise through level 60 and reach 61 asap.

Finishing off Quests

Before the expansion comes out i wanted not to have a full quest log of quests i can easily get done, and also the reward money could come in handy. So i spent the day bumbling about all over the world handing in quests and killing some beasties, mainly in Silithus where the beasties are especially annoying… god damn those poisonous stingers. I also had a quest in Western Plaguelands to finish off which involved getting Uthers crest or something, the usual story stuff i have absolutely no idea about. But it turned out the next step was to escort this Draenei bloke to his tomb, it was quite nice to be interacting with this new race for the first time. I thought the quests would only appear when TBC came out but clearly not.

Suiting Up

I also need some better gear for the expansion so i have spent a long time doing the tier 0 upgrade quests to get the nice tier 0.5 stuff. I have had a load of help from Tsar, a warrior in my guild – Imperial Fist – He has been outrageously helpful, so thanks Tsar. I also finally purchased my epic mount, i call him Pink Eye – for obvious reasons. I have been trying desperately to get a new helm because my current one is just so god damn girly, its like wearing a tiara or something. I need a proper warrior helm, which looks like a bucket with some slits in, thats how warriors should look – stupid, but manly at the same time.

Overall it’s been a long, hungover, and successful day in the World of Warcraft. So see you soon, keep reading and feel free to leave any comments.

This blog will give an insight into one characters path through this vast game, and hopefully provide some entertainment on the way.

The blog will officially kick off on release date which is 16th January 2007, i will probably post some stuff before hand and improve the blog in many ways. But until then here is a pretty picture of what to expect very soon from this blog.
